In 1974, Ray and Moira Oliver arrived in Pietermaritzburg from Zimbabwe to plant a church. In those days the church comprised mainly of University students. After a few years we bought an old church building in Victoria Road. 1984 was a big year for us: we moved venue to 498 Alexandra Road, and began to partner with a group of churches called New Covenant Ministries International. Together, we have planted churches in more than 50 countries of the world, and continue to assist thousands of churches in their leadership and development. The church grew steadily through the 80s & 90s, and in 2000, Ray and Moira Oliver handed over leadership to Grant & Sue Crawford. In 2005, we built the 1800 seater auditorium in Bisley. 2007 saw a dramatic shift in our modus operandi. This was the year we began to run concurrent and multiple meetings at various venues around the city. Today, we meet at 13 different venues in PMB and the midlands every Sunday.

Journey with us.

My Rest – My Rescue

March 26, 2015 | 0 Comments

Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath Why is it a “Blue Monday” for most people? By Martin McCrory Man has an inbuilt proclivity to work hard and long. Intrinsically tied to that proclivity is his identity, derived from what is called a “good work ethic”, a moral propensity that builds significance and worth in humans. […]

The Fruits of Repentance

March 11, 2015 | 0 Comments

Read this awesome Blog by Martin McCrory on “The Fruits of Repentance”. I live in South Africa. We drive on the left-hand-side of the road. Things get complicated if you drive on the other side! Some years ago I travelled to the United Sates. They drive on the right-hand-side of the road. They’re allowed to, because they […]

Finishing Strong

September 25, 2014 | 0 Comments

By Tristan Kirn. Notes from NCF Church staff meeting compiled by Sabby Mahabeer. In continuation of our series “Conviction” in the book of 2 Timothy, here are some encouraging thoughts on Finishing Strong. We live in the “Information Age”, where we can access things and information instantaneously, with as little as a phone and a […]

He tells them, in essence, “I […]

By Grant Crawford- Notes from a staff meeting compiled by Heidi Kirn We are currently in a series called ‘Conviction’- a series through the book of 2 Timothy. We join Paul, an apostle in prison. Being on death row, everything that he sees seems to be sharper and there is an immediacy to much of […]

Continuing in courage and faith

July 23, 2014 | 0 Comments

By Terry Brauteseth- notes from a staff meeting compiled by Heidi Kirn Winter is coming to an end and it is often at the halfway mark of a year that we need to be encouraged to remember that we can still continue in courage and faith to not only have started this year strong but finish […]

An introduction to our upcoming series, Flip It.

July 9, 2014 | 0 Comments

By Grant Crawford- notes from a staff meeting compiled by Heidi Kirn This week we start our new series, ‘Flip It’. In this series we look at emphasising the fact that regardless of whether or not we are Christian, we will find ourselves in pretty identical situations to any individual, believer or not, out there. […]

How to hear God

May 6, 2014 | 0 Comments

An inspirational message by visiting pastor Ed Strong compiled by Sabby Mahabeer. It is essential for us Christians to hear from God. However, it is also one of the hardest things. Hearing some people claim that they have heard God speak to them in this or that particular fashion can be quite intimidating and discouraging, […]

Post Resurrection Encounters with Jesus

April 29, 2014 | 0 Comments

An inspirational message by Martin Berndt compiled by Sabby Mahabeer Imagine what it would have been like to be one of Jesus’ disciples after he had been crucified and buried. The person they had looked up to, given up their lives to follow, their champion, is dead. Disappointment, confusion, doubt and heartbreak would surely have […]

Noah the Movie: What’s Biblical and what’s Hollywood?

April 10, 2014 | 0 Comments

Thoughts by Grant Crawford compiled by Heidi Kirn Excited by the correlation of our Genesis series and the release of the movie Noah, we take a look at some of the events from the movie that fit with biblical truth and those things that are creative license. We are not attempting to discourage anyone from […]
